Choosing the Right Brush for Your Hair Type
Bristle material is the single biggest factor in how a brush performs on different hair types.
Boar bristle distributes natural oils from the scalp along the hair shaft, adding shine and smoothing the cuticle. It works beautifully on fine and normal hair.
Nylon bristle is firmer and more flexible, making it excellent for thick, dense or frizzy hair — it reaches through the layers to detangle without excessive pulling.
Mixed boar-and-nylon brushes offer the best of both: shine from the boar side, control from the nylon side. Many of our paddle brushes are available in either configuration.
For curly or coily textures, wide-tooth combs and brushes with widely spaced rounded teeth reduce breakage. Silicone-tooth scalp brushes suit sensitive scalps and shampoo-time massage.
